This small but ambitious school in Wairoa is an exemplary case of architecture helping to make a difference. The architect has understood that the school is grounded in its community and must be accessible to that community. The school has been designed to facilitate a particular pedagogy, to inspire its students, and to accommodate flexible use. Planning is generous and the material and colour palette is well chosen. The school opens out to its fields and the wider neighbourhood.
