2016 Student Design Awards

L. Mason Rattray of Unitec’s Architecture Department has received New Zealand’s top prize for final-year architecture students with a project that aims to rapidly improve the living and working conditions of dairy farm workers in India.

Two highly commended awards were also conferred at this year’s awards – to Danielle Koni, from the University of Auckland School of Architecture and Alyjana Roach, from the Victoria University of Wellington School of Architecture.

Optimistic architecture

Melonie Bayl-Smith, from Bijl Architecture in Australia, presented a short lecture on optimism in architecture at this year's awards.
