This warm, inviting and comfortable house, designed for clients who suggested a tramping hut design, is set on a rural block on the side of a picturesque valley in the King Country. The building backs into a cut bank and bends with the contours of the land. Building materials are simple and effective and the supports of the cantilevered roof link the interior of the building with the retaining wall, giving an inside-outside space.
