Once the garage of a significant home, this building has been skilfully adapted into a design studio. Exposed surfaces, finishes, and structure retain a clear link to its past. New materials are carefully articulated alongside the old. Openings are thoughtfully handled, with former sliding garage doors repurposed to provide translucence and climate control. New sliding glazed doors sit in front, adding another layer and reinforcing this ambiguity. The result is a layered palimpsest, showing depth of thought and strong control at a small scale.
