Matapouri Beach House
The clever intersection of two geometries and an intelligent interpretation of the site results in a beautifully sculptural home. The dark exterior is shadowy and atmospheric and, in the interior, gives way to soft interior finishes and a relaxed, informal plan that lends itself to framed views. Good use is made of moveable timber screens, which can lock-down when not in use, and an outdoor room which provides additional cover from wind is welcome sun trap.
