2016 New Zealand Architecture Awards Winner
Zavos Corner
A determined client and very able architect have produced one of New Zealand’s best recent multi-unit developments and provided a model for a genre that increasingly will be required in the country’s major cities. Eight units have been fitted onto a site previously occupied by one house, and masterfully positioned so each has good views of internal courtyards and the street. The scale of Zavos Corner is in sympathy with its neighbourhood, the building has great street presence, and the quality of planning and attention to detail are outstanding, especially for accommodation in the rental market. This project is the recipient of the 2016 Sir Ian Athfield Award for Housing.
