Wynyard Central East 2
Wynyard Quarter is filling fast with exciting architecture, and the residential complex of Central East 2 is at its heart. You see the quality in the bold juxtaposition of materials: wood gives way to brick gives way to gleaming white plaster all over town, but rarely with such confidence and panache as here. You see it in the apartments, some tucked into the laneway with splendid intimacy, others revelling in the glorious views and the breathable, expansive proportions of premium apartment living. There are 57 types of apartment in this complex, stretched over 113 units. The decks are glorious, there is light everywhere and, if you’re high enough in the biggest block, you look down on gorgeous green-planted rooftops. Terrific from the street, lovely to live in. Wynyard Central East 2 could do with a better name, but it’s Homestar 8, as it should be, and its marvellous sea views are a bonus: with this complex, Architectus has created Auckland apartment living at its finest.
