The Barrel Room is a newly built underground space designed to feel as though it has always been part of the site. Covered with earth and planting, the roof blends naturally into the surrounding landscape. Vaulted brick ceilings and walls, along with recessed openings, create a strong sense of age and history despite the building being new. The Barrel Room connects to the neighbouring Manure Room through the kitchen, allowing the spaces to work together flexibly. From the outside, it sits comfortably within the wider precinct. Timber slat ceilings reference nearby heritage buildings, while velvet curtains, wall murals, and layered rugs create a rich and intimate interior atmosphere.
