This bold building replaces the former Maori Land Court, which occupied the same site but had become too small and was poorly planned for its purpose. Every element of the new design has been rigorously considered, with allusions to marae forms and Maori culture reinforcing the significance of the court to local iwi. This is a functional, inviting and spiritually uplifting space, an assessment confirmed by clients who proudly proclaim it to be "the best courtroom in the country".
