Drawing on the whakataukī (proverb) – ‘He aha te mea nui o te ao. He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata (What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people’) – this project carefully weaves the mauri of Māori Television into the building. The te aho tapu (sacred first thread) approach is clearly evident in the use of carefully crafted materials, commissioned artwork by Carin Wilson, and the sophisticated organisation of the interiors. The building is clearly much loved.
