The authentic restoration and structural strengthening of the oldest surviving timber church in the South Island under the considered eye of David Pearson Architects is a project of complete integrity. The original detailing and materiality has been replicated where possible, the belfry’s original fish-scale pattern cladding has been reinstated and the stained glass windows and organ artfully restored. This project is a wonderful example of a community acting with passion and energy to protect and preserve a historic gem.
