This excellently conceived and executed foot-bath development is comprised of a series of structures within a well-used public space at Kuirau Park. Through contemporary reinterpretations of traditional Māori building forms, expressed through concrete panels adorned with simple geometric patterning suggestive of pou and tukutuku, and weighty timber poles, the architect has created something both culturally appropriate and uniquely suited to the geothermal locale.
