These apartments are a compelling example of how architecture can give density both generosity and urban presence. The building is shaped around a sequence of thresholds, from the shared atriums to the deep verandahs that extend each apartment towards the harbour. These spaces provide privacy, outlook and outdoor living while giving the waterfront façade depth, movement and human scale. The restrained material palette of concrete, steel and cedar has weathered with confidence, allowing the architecture to remain legible rather than dated. More than twenty-five years after completion, The Point continues to demonstrate the value of well-proportioned apartments, meaningful communal space and a carefully considered relationship between private dwelling and public city.
