There is a raw richness to this design which, because it is not overworked, serves to maintain the integrity of the original building. The play between old and new expresses the Architect’s confidence in the beauty of the existing structure; more than that, in this consistent and well thought-out interpretation of old materials, the patina of age has been given its due deference.
