Spirit of Adventure Trust Offices

Spirit of Adventure Trust (SOAT) is a NZ based charitable organisation that has been responsible for giving thousands of young New Zealanders the memory of a lifetime experience of sailing a square rigged sailing ship in coastal waters. A natural link with the activities of the Construkt designed NZ National Maritime Museum was formalised by a proposal to provide SOAT’s new home as an extension to the Museum’s eastern wing at the gateway to Princes Wharf. Construkt took inspiration for the sleek form and curved black cladding from the old sailing ships, with the building appearing to float on pin-jointed steel columns. The CAD model shown on this page was prepared by Construkt to illustrate the visual impact of the development in order to successfully gain resource consent for building on this prominent waterfront site. The building was completed in 2004.
