Passive with an e
An energy efficient home, designed for little to no mechanical heating or cooling, taking advantage of passive heat gain onto the thermal mass of the polished concrete floor and passive ventilation through considered placement of openings, a chimney effect to move air through the double height space, and trickle vents on windows. Solar panels positioned away from the house provide more energy than needed. Having been in the home for a year the client has not needed to use any supplementary heating or cooling.
