Paterson House
This Auckland house is an historic building protected by both the Historic Places Trust and Auckland City. Our work involves the refurbishment and some reorganization of the existing house, together with the addition of a 3 storey 250m2 wing to its south side. Extensive consultation was required with both the Trust and the Council in the early design stages. The addition, which comprises garaging at the basement level with new informal kitchen/family and bedroom areas on the levels above, has been designed to seamlessly blend with the existing building in terms of architectural style, detailing and materials. It also provides sunny spaces with good access to new terraces to provide the type of amenity that is now expected in new homes but was rare in these traditional homes.
