Lake Road
A well-considered social housing development built for Kāinga Ora that takes full advantage of its main road and parkside location. Addressing scale and individuality with materiality and composition, the three blocks have their own distinctive character while clearly remaining part of a community. A level of naivety around client and developer imperatives has worked to advantage here in successful compositions of elevations and joinery configurations. The tenants’ pride and respect for their new homes is evidenced in the well-kept grounds and common spaces as much as in their individual private gardens.
