Through its members, the New Zealand Institute of Architects is the collective voice for architecture in New Zealand. Institute membership – either individual or practice – is widely regarded as an indication of professional excellence. Through our Friends programme, we aim to inspire greater awareness, knowledge and conversation about the factors that lead to better design outcomes.

Community of support
The NZIA is an inclusive network of architects and others working in the architecture profession. Our Members' wide range of architectural backgrounds includes private practice, academia and government, and our membership programmes also provide benefits to students and emerging practitioners.

We believe in keeping current and making sure our members can deliver great architecture and be great architects. That's why as a member you’ll pay reduced fees for courses, online learning and events that offer networking, professional development and leadership training.

Resources and information
We believe in sharing architectural knowledge. As a Practice Member, you’ll have access to the most vital documents and information to make sure you're a step ahead of the rest. This includes technical information like practice notes and guidance, contracts, health, safety and wellness guidance and templates and guide letters.
What next?
All membership applications are formally approved by the NZIA Council, which meets four times a year. However, once your initial registration has been accepted and paid, you will be able to access the full range of member benefits straight away.
