Rarangi Beach House
With stunning ocean views that reach out toward the distant Tapuae-o-Uenuku mountain, this house stands boldly atop the rugged landscape of Rarangi Beach. The angular first level clad in dark timber is bolstered on a rugged brick-clad, beach-facing courtyard and compact ground floor. Held above the sand, an invigorating slice of sea and sky is revealed beneath. Respite from the prevailing wind and varying views of the coast are granted via several balconies which further accentuate the building’s angular shape. The house harnesses the abundant solar energy to create a haven of comfort and sustainability for its inhabitants. This seamless incorporation of solar generation ensures a low carbon footprint, exemplifying a model of operational efficiency. The front garden preserves the natural shape, reflecting the sea’s gentle undulations. This design maintains the landscape’s beauty and seamlessly blends with the building’s elegant shape, creating a harmonious transition between nature and architecture.
