Te Ruamātatoru - He Whata Kai
A beautifully reconstructed pātaka sits at the centre of a community and has become the heart and focus of a wider educational program for mokopuna of the local iwi to engage them in a wider garden-to-table educational program. The architects have carefully measured an existing pātaka, and working in conjunction with the kaumātua, have updated the construction technology to suit the modern-day built environment. A project which respects the past but looks to the future.
