2018 Nelson/Marlborough Architecture Awards Winner
Kennedy de Leur House
A joyous mirror of the owners’ personalities, this house has been designed for them alone and fits like a comfortable weekend jumper. It is also a distillation and album of the architect’s life of thinking about what a house is and should be. The sequencing of the plan has ensured a journey of discovery through two stylistically unrelated structures that are linked by a tunnel corridor. Doors open to verandah and garden, and rescued materials from the clients’ previous 1930s home ensure a warm connection to past lives.
