2018 Nelson/Marlborough Architecture Awards Winner
Mana Heights House
The design of this simple, highly efficient yet elegant home puts strong emphasis on sustainability. The owners and architect have made conscious design decisions to achieve quality by limiting size, reducing material waste and embracing tight environmental performance – and less has certainly proven to be more. From the deliberately contained but welcoming entrance, steps descend on a subtly skewed axis into intimate living spaces opening to sun, deck and sea views. Projecting cedar-clad bedroom niches cleverly capture diagonal views and maintain privacy.
