This new house by Stevens Lawson was the standout among 29 buildings considered by this year's branch jury. The project's stated design approach is well articulated in the building's form and materials, which are sympathetic to Hawke's Bay's rural architecture and landscape. The owners' love of art is answered with spaces to house their collections and - even more expansively - with this exquisitely crafted home.
