St Peter’s College Technology Building by Architectus
Citation
A confident building unbowed by the demands of its location alongside one of the busiest stretches of motorway in New Zealand. Severe restrictions imposed by the site were used to generate a design of great strength and clarity. Rising above the obvious acoustic demands of the site, the architects have skilfully captured the attention and imagination of passing motorists through its expression of the school’s religious tradition. The building successfully opens itself up and engages with exterior spaces and surrounding buildings. In so doing it has created a better and more responsive learning environment for both teacher and pupil alike.
