Unitec Super Models

Friday 20 September, 5.30pm, Lee Woodman Studios, Nelson

Saturday 24 September, 10am, Lee Woodman Studios, Nelson

Exploring the concepts behind these works reveals a rich tapestry of innovation and creativity. One key idea is the "file to factory" process, which revolutionises how we create and manufacture objects. This process allows designers to develop their creations digitally and then seamlessly transition from virtual models to physical products using advanced manufacturing techniques. This capability streamlines production and enables the remote collaboration of creators from different parts of New Zealand, making it possible to design and manufacture without geographical constraints. Another fascinating aspect is the transformation of ephemeral digital objects into tangible artefacts. These objects, once only existing in the virtual realm of the computer, gain a new level of reality and permanence when they are materialised. Showcasing these ideas in an exhibition allows for engagement, providing insight into the innovative processes and the profound impact of digital-to-physical transformation, far beyond merely displaying the final products.

Architects & Friends Movie Night - Do More With Less

Wednesday 25 September, 6pm - 9pm, Bridge Street Studios

'Do More With Less' is a thought-provoking documentary that follows the journey of young architects in Latin America as they bring about a significant shift in the way architecture interacts with society. The film delves into innovative approaches that challenge traditional economic models, offering fresh perspectives on how the future of architecture can be reshaped for the better. By highlighting the creativity and resilience of these emerging architects, 'Do More With Less' provides a compelling look at how design can serve communities and contribute to more sustainable and socially conscious practices.
This informal screening at Bridge Street Studios in Nelson is open to all creative disciplines, providing an opportunity to engage with the ideas presented in the film and reflect on how they can inspire change in our own work and communities.
