Paerata Ridge House
The house near Paerata Ridge is on the site of the original farmhouse but with garaging and guest arrival now restricted to the upper level. This allows for an approach stepping down a bank, that will be densely planted, to a group of forms that reference the forms and colours of distant Raukumara Range. The guest wing, living area and main bedroom wing, all with slightly differing aspects, look out over the orchard to the sun and coastline in the distance. The transition space between the living and main bedroom block provides an enclosed courtyard for entertainment. This is a house that doesn’t demand attention. It nestles comfortably into the environment.
