Pohutukawa House
The clients desired a contemporary family home that would maximise views north and east over the Opotiki landscape and east coast seascape. The building arrangement favours entertaining, with the kitchen at the heart and the building mass creating three protected outdoor courtyards, each suited to differing wind directions. The master bedroom and bathroom upstairs takes in prime views; the mezzanine office adjacent connects and overlooks living spaces below with views north. The adjacent bedroom wing can be closed off enabling the family home to be bisected providing accommodation options.
