The Lakehouse
The Lakehouse is a new holiday home at Acacia Bay, Taupō; a comfortable repose on the lake edge, stretching to the morning sun. Upon arrival through the front door, the house appears to sit on the water, with an eastern view towards Tauhara. Carefully stepped decks between the main living space and the water’s edge maintain the jetty-like connection with the lake. The modest forms, and material palette, with board-and-batten cladding, refer to the Taupō bach tradition. The living spaces and main bedroom are laid out in a boomerang shape, directly responding to the plan of the previous bach that sat on this site.
