Te Henui Chapel
Located in a unique park environment, this multi use chapel and events venue was briefed to utilise existing sheds and site infrastructure to gain economies. The solution was to use the existing buildings for lounge and servient spaces which were opened up with extensive glazing to the leafy green lane. The main chapel/event area is an efficient solid walled introspective space, with a lofty timber acoustic ceiling floating on ribbon windows which give an important 360 degree symbolic connection with the sky unencumbered with terrestial clutter. The project completes a 5 year master plan for the client on this site.
