Selected Project

Blackley House

This artist’s studio was initially clad in dark stained ply which was showing its age and was extremely hot in summer months. The simple solution, using the artist’s own Macroparpa, was to apply a rain screen of horizontal battens. These were put on undulating vertical battens which were patterned so that two battens could be cut from the one plank. The rain screen shades the walls and stabilises and protects the ply. On the northern face where the ply was no longer useable it was replaced with a fibre cement board with Corten steel paint effects. Sun shades were added over the existing windows and doors. It is a new studio that inspires.
